Do not be surprised if Missouri Attorney General Joshua Hawley soon launches a new offensive combating the state’s growing human/sex trafficking crime. Action could come from any number of options, ranging from stepped-up enforcement to raising public awareness. Such an initiative is overdue. Determining the extent of human/sex trafficking in Missouri is difficult because of its shadowy nature. News reports herald an alarming rise in reports of human/sex trafficking in Kansas City, St. … [Read more...]
It is time!
The other day Sharon and I were flying through a city, and we were able to sit in an area of the airport where frequent fliers often congregate. When we went in, we noticed one guy lounging in a chair and in a deep sleep. He was obnoxiously snoring so loud that people in the area were either significantly annoyed or chuckling at him being such the center of attention. Around the corner of the sitting area came an agent for the airline and spoke to the man. He never missed a beat. He was in … [Read more...]

The Pray Across Missouri initiatave is a cooperative effort of Missouri Baptists to engage in prayer for the transformation of lives and communities with the gospel, according to MBC … [Read more...]
‘Not alone:’ MBC cooperation brings Renovation to St. Joseph
ST. JOSEPH – Renovation Church, a Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) church plant here, is renovating itself again—and Pastor Kyle Kormeier couldn’t be more excited. After two-and-a-half years of growth and with roughly 250 people attending each Sunday morning, the church has outgrown its current facilities. So they’ll soon be moving to two services. According to Kormeier, the revamp in their Sunday morning schedule will only help the church bring spiritual renovation to the people of St. … [Read more...]

FENTON – Southern Baptist and evangelical churches across the United States have been “flooded with dementia,” Michael Haykin, professor of church history and biblical spirituality at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, said during the Midwest regional Southern Baptist Founders Conference at First Baptist Church here, Feb. 28-March 1. Conference-goers gathered under the theme, “The Wittenberg Door,” commemorating the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. “Our culture is … [Read more...]
Hamlin Baptist pursues new ministry, refuses to abandon old community
SPRINGFIELD – In 2015, the members of Hamlin Baptist Church here had to face a harsh reality: They could either relocate, or they could merge with another church. In any case, if they didn’t make some adjustments, they would be forced to close their doors permanently. “We voted unanimously to relocate,” Sharon Andrews, a ministry assistant at the church, told The Pathway. But the congregation wouldn’t simply abandon the community where they had ministered since the church’s establishment … [Read more...]

Disaster Relief showcases CP, MMO at work
JEFFERSON CITY – The word “missionary” typically conjures up images of a church planter, tattered Bible in hand, plodding through the jungle to bring the Gospel to some unreached people group. But there are 1,743 vetted and trained volunteer missionaries in yellow shirts working in Missouri who are equally at home toting a chainsaw or prepping tens of thousands of hot meals. Few ministries show Missouri Baptists’ cooperation at work like Disaster Relief. The Cooperative Program (CP) funds … [Read more...]
