PERRY – Wide-spread damage of trees and branches was reported in northeast Missouri after strong winds, up to 90 miles per hour hit the area. DR teams in Missouri experience active summer
JEFFERSON CITY – MBC Disaster Relief teams have been quite busy during the late spring and early summer in Missouri. Super Summer makes impact from one generation to the next
HANNIBAL – Nearly two dozen teenagers professed faith in Christ during the Missouri Baptist Convention’s (MBC) Super Summer last month, and many more students grew in their faith throughout the camp. Churches set for Vacation Bible School
JEFFERSON CITY – There is good news in Missouri churches this summer. Vacation Bible School is on! The COVID-19 pandemic forced a number of churches to cancel Bible school in 2020. Windstorm damages roof at FBC Harrisonville
HARRISONVILLE – The First Baptist Church here sustained pretty heavy damage to its roof on Friday, June 11. A severe thunderstorm produced either a “microburst” or straight line winds, church officials said. The roof of the educational building was peeled off, according to Michael Firkins, student pastor at the Kansas City area church. “It was a roof membrane, and it peeled it off of the education building and knocked over a cooling tower,” Firkins said. JEFFERSON CITY – What started out as a project of the MBC Disaster Relief (DR) communications team to practice how they would deploy in a disaster situation, morphed into a full-scale disaster drill on a recent April weekend in Jefferson City. Baptist Heritage scholarships awarded to three university students by Historical Commission
JACKSON – In their semi-annual meeting the Missouri Baptist Convention Historical Commission awarded three Baptist Heritage scholarships to students at three Missouri Baptist affiliated universities. The $2,000 scholarships are made in cooperation with Hannibal-LaGrange University, Southwest Baptist University and Missouri Baptist University. Ministry restores 20,000 lost photos in decade after devastating tornado
CARTHAGE – After an EF5 tornado carved a mile-wide path of destruction through the city of Joplin on May 22, 2011, Thad Beeler surveyed the damage in his parents’ home. The tornado uprooted three large trees, throwing them on top of the house. It flipped his parents’ car and wrapped it around a neighbor’s tree.
