From Mali to Missouri: Pastor plants new Francophone church in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD – The Way Church Francophone is a new congregation started with the intent of reaching French-speaking people in Springfield. Sponsored by The Way Church in the south-central part of the city, it is served by Pastor Mossa Mohamed. Ministry began in February this year, and about 10-15 people are attending. SEDALIA – Volunteers are at the Missouri State Fair from Aug. 7–17, giving away gifts and sharing the gospel with people who stop by their tent. As of Aug. 17, a total of 184 Missouri Baptist volunteers (representing 16 churches and 10 associations) worked in the Baptist Tent at the Missouri State Fair. Women in Dallas County Association offer ministry retreats for 25 years

BUFFALO – For a quarter of a century the women in Dallas County Baptist Association of Southern Baptists have been gathering for retreats, fellowship, discipleship, missions and encouragement. They started doing this in 2001. They have continued every year since that time. Susie Adams said they had 92 ladies attend the retreat this spring, and they rotate the retreat around the association among five churches. Critters on the menu draw big crowd at Kimberling City wild game dinner

KIMBERLING CITY – The church hall was packed, and so was the buffet table at the recent wild game supper at First Baptist Church, Kimberling City. The amount of “critters” available to be consumed was massive. The church wanted to reach out to the fishing and hunting enthusiasts in their southwest Missouri community, so having a spread of wild game to eat seemed like the thing to do. Pianist, age 99, makes music at MBC church for 85 years

WHITESIDE, Mo. – Mrs. Grace Street plays the piano for worship every Sunday at Whiteside Baptist Church. She is 99 years old and has been playing the piano at Whiteside for about 85 years. She shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. “I never felt like it was my duty, but I just started playing,” Mrs. Street said. FBC Bonne Terre mission team shares gospel, needed resources in Kenya

Tornadoes, heavy winds impact Missouri communities, MBC churches

ARNOLD, Mo. – The First Baptist Church of Arnold canceled services on Sunday, March 16, holding online worship only. Their building was impacted by a band of tornadoes that stretched across several states from Texas to Illinois on Friday evening, March 14. ‘Divine appointment’ connects pastor with 9-year-old boy fighting cancer

LEBANON – Roger Sherrer was looking for his package.  A parcel company carrying an order for some sports memorabilia had not shown up on the expected delivery date.  It was to have been delivered to the church office at First Baptist Church in Lebanon where Sherrer is one of the pastors.  But instead the package accidentally went to a family in a town about 70 miles away.  That was a “divine appointment” that the Lord set up, Sherrer said. NEOSHO – Alan Brock has retired as the director of missions for Shoal Creek Baptist Association.  He plans to move to Bolivar, where he is hoping to offer classes and training conferences for area bivocational pastors.  He has served in several locations in Missouri as a pastor and DOM.
