GRAPEVINE, Texas – A book has been released by the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention which is intended to be a devotional guide for SBC Disaster Relief workers. Missouri DR sends teams to Mandeville, La., for hurricane relief
MANDEVILLE, La. – An initial team of MBC disaster relief (DR) workers has arrived in this southern Louisiana city where Hurricane Ida swept through in the region on August 29. The category 4 hurricane left a lot of damage in its wake and the initial reports from MBC DR assessors was there will be several weeks of flood relief and chain saw recovery efforts. Collegiate interns join Disaster Relief ministry through the summer
JEFFERSON CITY – Maddy Atwell has the assignment to oversee Disaster Relief college interns during the summer months. She had 12 students in the program this summer. The program of Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief (DR) is intended to help students learn about serving the Lord through assisting survivors of disasters. SEDALIA – Russ Slocum needed to prepare some little colorful gospel bead bracelets to give to kids at the Missouri state fair Baptist tent exhibit. JEFFERSON CITY – A couple of new programs with major retailers will benefit Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (DR). Home Depot and Lowe’s are offering opportunities for customers to register their personal or business credit cards with the program. Disaster Relief fall training opportunities announced
JEFFERSON CITY – Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief (DR) invites Missouri Baptists to train to participate in disaster call-outs. There will be two training sessions held in the southern and western parts of the state to equip future and current volunteers. JEFFERSON CITY – MBC Disaster Relief teams have been quite busy during the late spring and early summer in Missouri. Windstorm damages roof at FBC Harrisonville
HARRISONVILLE – The First Baptist Church here sustained pretty heavy damage to its roof on Friday, June 11. A severe thunderstorm produced either a “microburst” or straight line winds, church officials said. The roof of the educational building was peeled off, according to Michael Firkins, student pastor at the Kansas City area church. “It was a roof membrane, and it peeled it off of the education building and knocked over a cooling tower,” Firkins said. DR management, communication teams drill to prepare for unexpected disasters
JEFFERSON CITY – What started out as a project of the MBC Disaster Relief (DR) communications team to practice how they would deploy in a disaster situation, morphed into a full-scale disaster drill on a recent April weekend in Jefferson City.
