ST. LOUIS – Thirty families in the South County area of St. Louis received free Christmas gifts for their children through a recent outreach project of Canaan Baptist Church. Living nativity drama portrays gospel from cradle to cross
RUSSELLVILLE – A living Nativity scene at Corticelli Baptist Church portrays the gospel story from the cradle of Jesus to the cross and the empty tomb. UPDATE: DR teams deploy within Missouri, to Kentucky after tornadoes hit
UPDATE (Dec. 15): As of Dec. 15, Missouri Disaster Relief (DR) crews are working in the Kentucky towns of Princeton and Dawson Springs. The operations may be shifting more to debris removal and mass feeding instead of chain saw work. CAMERON – The church building became a theater, but not in the traditional sense. Mo. Disaster Relief teams activated for tornado relief
FREDERICKTOWN – A band of storms marched across Missouri on Sunday evening, Oct. 24, as many Missouri Baptists were heading to Branson for the MBC Annual Meeting. The storms intensified as they went across the Ozarks in a northeasterly direction. In the Madison County town of Fredericktown, population 3,999, the storm turned into what was reported as an EF-3 tornado with winds of 140 MPH. BRANSON – Gold shirts and hats were in abundance at the Missouri Baptist Convention annual meeting. MBC Disaster Relief (DR) volunteers not only had an exhibit to represent their ministry, but they staffed the childcare area and served as door greeters and ushers in the convention hall. DR wraps up work in Louisiana
MANDEVILLE, La. – The MBC Disaster Relief (DR) ministry scaled back in their response to the southern Louisiana city of Mandeville earlier this month. When Hurricane Ida blew through the area on Aug. 29, MBC DR units were in Texarkana, Ark., staging so they could have a rapid response. GRAPEVINE, Texas – A book has been released by the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention which is intended to be a devotional guide for SBC Disaster Relief workers. The book, called Withstanding the Storm by Standing on the Rock, contains 52 devotionals written by state Baptist Disaster Relief (DR) directors.
