NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The American Medical Association has described physician-assisted suicide as a serious risk to society and “fundamentally incompatible with a physician’s role as healer.” Millions of Americans disagree. Two-thirds say it is morally acceptable for terminally ill patients to ask their doctors for help in ending their lives, according to a new survey from Nashville-based LifeWay Research. A similar number says doctors should be able to help terminally ill patients die. In … [Read more...]

Church’s Christmas story undaunted by hurricane
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (BP) – Michael Arnold and his family were among hundreds of St. Augustine residents who fled their homes two months ago as Hurricane Matthew trailed close behind. And while St. Augustine, known as the nation’s oldest city, didn’t take a direct hit from the hurricane, coastal flooding from its storm surge and near-hurricane-force winds wreaked havoc and destruction for many who call it home. When the bridges reopened and Arnold returned home after a three-day mandatory … [Read more...]

The Greitens’ robbery and clueless media
There was an attention-grabbing admission by the executive editor of The New York Times the other day where he publicly admitted that his newspaper – and others – do not adequately understand religion and people of faith. “We don’t get religion. We don’t get the role of religion in people’s lives,” Dean Baquet confessed. I realize this admission comes as no surprise, but it reminds us how out-of-touch the media can be on matters of faith. Take, for example, the recent coverage of the armed … [Read more...]

Like most families, we share these moments online. But this year, our celebration angered individuals in the recently emboldened alt-right movement. The alt-right or “white nationalists” as some call them, are a grouping of far-right individuals … [Read more...]
