We’ve gone in and torn out everything including furniture and appliances.” Hadler said the follow up to the demolition is to go in and power wash. “We spray the entire house … [Read more...]
MBC joins historic pro-life lawsuit
WASHINGTON – The Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) is joining what could be this decade’s most important pro-life case to come before the U.S. Supreme Court. The MBC’s Christian Life Commission (CLC) voted, Jan. 6, to send an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court, supporting a Texas law that, if it stands, could sound the death knell for dozens of Texas abortion clinics. The Supreme court agreed to hear the case (Whole Woman’s Health v. Cole) on Nov. 13, 2015. It is the first … [Read more...]
Leaders plead for volunteers after floods wreak havoc
EUREKA – The waters from the Christmas floods have receded, but the cleanup job they left behind is pushing Missouri Baptists’ disaster relief (DR) resources and volunteers to the brink. “It’s bigger than people realize,” said Joe Banderman of California, the leader of the Missouri Baptist Convention’s(MBC) collegiate disaster relief team. “Unless you’re here, it’s hard to get an idea of the scope of the flooding.” In St Louis, Franklin, Jefferson, St. Charles and Lincoln Counties there … [Read more...]
Counselor lends professional ear in flood zone
PACIFIC – It’s not as glamorous as wielding a chainsaw or cranking through a few thousand meals a day, but chaplains are playing a role in Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief (DR) as volunteers bring help, hope and healing to St. Louisans in need. Rhonda Myers, a member of South Ridge Baptist in Jefferson City, is one of those lay chaplains. By day, she is a licensed professional counselor. But over New Years, she took her professional role, donned a yellow DR hat, and lent a friendly ear to … [Read more...]

Clinton church raises $2.5 million for missions
CLINTON – Two-and-a-half million dollars seems like a lot of money. Many Missouri Baptist churches will not handle that kind of cash in several decades or a hundred years. But a western Missouri county seat town church has generated that much or more for funding missions efforts in the last decade. After a mission celebration which highlighted the need of missionary efforts, the First Baptist Church of Clinton began sending out mission teams and doing missions in their local community. … [Read more...]
Omaha Baptist celebrates country fun Christmas
OMAHA – The town of Omaha is up in the country – really up in the country. Situated at the top of Missouri on Highway 149, there are two residents in the tiny burg. There is only one occupied house. But every Sunday about a hundred people gather in the Baptist church just west of the old gas station and general store. And for the past six years, on a Sunday afternoon, the third weekend of December, the congregation swells close to 150 as the Omaha Baptist Church puts on a fictional radio … [Read more...]
No injuries as fire interrupts Corticelli nativity
RUSSELVILLE – When Coticelli Baptist Church hosted a drive-thru nativity Dec. 21-23, they hoped for a lot of community support, but they didn’t plan on the fire department making a visit. Rick Seaton, pastor of Corticelli, said the fire began a little after 5 p.m. Dec. 23, about half an hour before the children manning the nativity and animals would have been in their places. A definite cause is not yet known, but he suspects a short or a burst bulb sparked a hay bale. It took 20 … [Read more...]
