BREAKING: Yeats urges support of Disaster Relief in response to widespread flooding

December 31, 2015 By The Pathway

Missouri Baptist Convention Executive Director John Yeats issued a plea for support for Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief efforts following the wide spread flooding. Following is the message issued by Yeats:

“I’m writing to ask you to support Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief efforts in flood-swollen areas throughout our state. As I write, MBC DR Strategist Dwain Carter is helping coordinate a massive, long-term effort to help victims of flooding along the Mississippi, Missouri, and Meramec Rivers, as well as other areas impacted by torrential rains that began just after Christmas.

“Please pray for Dwain Carter, head of Missouri Disaster Relief, our volunteers, and for the victims of this flooding, many of whom need to hear the gospel. If you can volunteer to be part of a relief team, visit Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief on Facebook to learn more.

“Equally important, I urge you to give generously to the disaster-relief effort. Click here to give online. Or send your check to the Missouri Baptist Convention and designate it “Disaster Relief.” If you postmark your check today you can count this as a charitable deduction in 2015.

“This is a record-breaking flood that has caused at least 14 deaths in Missouri, temporarily closed two Interstate highways, threatened nearly two dozen levees, and prompted Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon to activate the National Guard.

“Please pray, go if you’re able, and give generously to the work of Missouri Baptists as they minister to victims throughout our state. Thanks for supporting our DR efforts.”

Donors may also give by contacting Dwain Carter at dcarter@mobaptist.org, also at disasterrelief@mobaptist.org or call 573-645-6764.
