Collegiate ‘Challenge Villages’ offer hope
ST. JOSEPH – When Campus Missionary Paul Damery first heard of the concept of Challenge Villages from Resonate Church in Washington State, he logged the idea away. “During the summer, their church meets in Challenge Villages where people lived. I thought that was a cool idea, but a lot of our students live in the general area [of the BSU], so it wasn’t a good fit.” Little did he know that the circumstances of coronavirus would provide the perfect context to implement the concept in his … [Read more...]

Flying veggies lead to gospel encounter
HANNIBAL – Sometimes God causes a gospel opportunity to fall into your lap. Literally. Southside Baptist Church Pastor Scott Hawes and a deacon were hauling a load of fresh produce to giveaway. Going around a bend, the plastic wrap securing the load came loose and wrapped around the wheel of the truck, throwing half a dozen 25-lb baskets of food into the road. “It could have been bad: fruit and vegetables flying through the air,” said Hawes. “My heart just sank. We could have hit a car or … [Read more...]
