Two years after his conversion, he began to help in a children’s ministry at his church. Beginning when he turned 17, and during the six years that followed, Harlea ministered in two … [Read more...]
Learning from 1960s Revival
When Jim Breeden, director of missions, St. Louis Metro Association, gave me a copy of the newly reprinted book Indonesian Revival, by the late Avery Willis, I wasn’t expecting much. But Jim handed me a real gift. Indonesian Revival documented a people movement that occurred in 1966-68 in which two million Javanese came to faith in Christ. It’s not only a good read, but Avery based it on his doctoral dissertation at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. The trigger for the revival … [Read more...]

The case against Masih, a street sweeper, stemmed from an alleged drunken … [Read more...]

When the world came together in Sochi, Russia, Hawkins and other Missouri Baptists carried the Good News to the nations. “It was thoroughly enjoyable, and we were getting the Word out,” said Hawkins, who lives in St. Joseph. A team of five individuals from St. Joseph – members of Strong Tower Baptist and … [Read more...]

GALLATIN – Wisny Exima says “thank you” in a most meaningful way. In his mountainside community of Ma Rouge, there has been no rainfall since October. Adopting God’s logic: Missouri Baptist family eager to welcome home three new children
KANSAS CITY – After almost a year of prayer and seeking God’s will and promises through Scripture, Amber Rust was ready to proceed with the next steps of the adoption. But her husband, Tyler, still wasn’t sure. Tyler’s reasoning and God’s calling weren’t in alignment, and he couldn’t find the peace that he desperately desired. They had identified the two children they believed the Lord wanted them to adopt. Massah, a 6-year-old girl, and Ibrahim, a 2-year-old boy, are around the same age … [Read more...]
Ukraine: MO churches partner with Ukrainian Baptist Seminary
LVIV, Ukraine – Although he was born under the shadow of the Soviet regime, 36-year-old Baptist seminary President Yaroslav “Slavik” Pyzh never imagined that he would now face what, according to some news agencies, could become “the worst East-West crisis since the Cold War.” With support from Missouri Baptist churches, Pyzh and his students at the Ukrainian Baptist Theological Seminary labor to spread the hope of the gospel throughout Ukraine as Russia amasses and shuffles its troops … [Read more...]
Holocaust survivor speaks at HLGU
HANNIBAL – Eva Mozes Kor doesn’t mind talking about the nine months she and her twin sister spent in Auschwitz during World War II. She openly shares about inhumane experiments by infamous Dr. Josef Mengele. She matter-of-factly tells of watching as other Jewish children were shot as the Allies drew closer to the concentration camp. But, all things considered, she’d prefer to talk about forgiveness. Kor spoke for nearly two hours at Hannibal-LaGrange University March 28 to a packed house … [Read more...]
