CONWAY – Everyone has heard of bi-vociational pastors, but James Beall aimed higher. He’s not just Pastor James of Crossing Over Southern Baptist Church here, or just a worker at the Tracker boat factory in Lebanon – he’s now tri-vocational, with his newest title being Airman First Class James Beall of the United States Air Force Reserves. “There’s one way to sum it all up,” Beall said. “Very busy.” In many ways, Beall was the typical bi-vocational pastor (if there is such a … [Read more...]

Twenty-one saved through Springfield church’s young adult, collegiate ministry
SPRINGFIELD – Like many youths growing up in church, Jared Bone’s understanding of his personal role in discipleship and evangelism ended at the doors to the church building. “I brought a friend to church, so my job is done,” he says of his mentality as a youth. That all changed during college. Today, Bone, the young adult and outreach pastor at High Street Baptist in Springfield, is passionate about helping other young adults recognize that inviting friends to church is just one small … [Read more...]

HOLT – In the winter there is a task to be done when it snows. For some it is not a problem to get out and shovel the snow off of a sidewalk or a driveway. Some have snow removal equipment. Others hire someone to do the job. But for senior adults or those with disabilities, illnesses or single parents it can be a difficulty to deal with. So the Northern Hills Baptist Church decided to offer snow shoveling to those who need it during the winter storms. A team of men fire up their garden … [Read more...]

‘God’s Word speaks’: MBC pastors lead families, churches to read Scripture in 2021
ST. LOUIS – New Year resolutions can bring enthusiasm and hope for developing new habits. Daily Bible reading might be one of those resolutions for Christians. According to two Missouri pastors, Christians need to be intentional in reading the Bible and have a plan to get through it because—though it has great depth—it can be complex. Many Bible reading plans are a guide of books, chapters, and verses to read each day—usually alone, without accountability, and perhaps without textual … [Read more...]

SIKESTON – In this COVID-19 era, the annual Christmas show, to borrow the maxim, must go on. I wanted to write something quality, funny and relevant. There are three audiences: those who are not saved, but know something of the Bible; those not saved who know nothing of the Bible or God, and the … [Read more...]
