HIGGINSVILLE – When Michelle Chaffer first heard of the death of 17 tourists on a “duck boat” in Branson, July 19, she was of course sad to hear of so many lives lost. But she saw no need to be concerned for her own family members. Her parents, Bill and Janice Bright, drove to Branson earlier that day to celebrate their 45th anniversary. But Michelle’s sister had heard from them after they checked into their hotel. So Michelle felt no need to worry. This changed the following day. “It was … [Read more...]

Meanwhile, Little Vine Baptist had some apparent issues and was in the process of closing last fall. Genevieve Baptist pastor Rev. Elmer Killian heard of the possible closure of Little Vine, and was troubled by that. He prayed with Little Vine members. … [Read more...]

Worship Pastor Daniel Maasen said his church is one of six in a city softball league, but the only church represented. “Before and after every game we pray, and we’re working to be more and more intentional in working in the gospel,” Maasen said. “We hope to see some decisions and lives changed … [Read more...]
Redd family leads St. Louis church plant to share Christ
ST. LOUIS – When asked about how they first met, there was immediate laughter from Ricardo and Christian Redd. Apparently, Christina, Ricardo’s wife for the past 16 years, did not appreciate him as much as she does now. It is in God’s great wisdom that the two of them, Ricardo with Christina at his side, now labor to share the gospel and make disciples in St. Louis, where they started a Missouri Baptist church plant in a section of the city known as Fountain Park. New Direction Church … [Read more...]
Virtual evangelism: Wentzville teens use latest technology to ‘honor Christ’
WENTZVILLE – When it comes to evangelism and outreach, video games are probably not the first thought in anyone’s mind. Video games have a reputation for profanity, violence and sexual content that worry Christians. However, there are millions of people who like to play video games who are not exposed to the gospel. For a pair of brothers from Wentzville, this community represents an opportunity. With a camera, a video game, an internet connection and infectious personalities, the … [Read more...]
