SAGINAW – While most churches across Missouri have likely seen a decrease in baptisms since the pandemic swept the nation last year, that’s simply not been the case for Saginaw Baptist Church. “We had 19 baptisms in the last year,” said Saginaw’s pastor, Keith Wilson. “And the week after Easter we are planning to do three more.” Wilson has served bi-vocationally at Saginaw for the last two years and in that time has seen an increase from about ten faithful attenders to now over 40. The rollercoaster ride of life
“You must be at least this tall to ride this rollercoaster.” When I was a kid, I simply could…not…wait until I was finally, finally, tall enough to ride a rollercoaster. I’m a short chick, so by the time I reached that minimum height requirement, I was a teen—and there was no rollercoaster fierce enough. Twirl me around and upside down? Yes. Loop de loop? Twice, please. Flip me upside down and plunge me to the center of the earth? Bring on the magma, baby. You could launch me upside a … [Read more...]
Christians are saved for service
Salvation is not an end but a beginning. The Gospel not only gives us new life but teaches us how to live as new people in Christ. Quite simply, the Gospel must change every aspect of our lives. Salvation necessarily brings wholistic life change. The fruit of the Gospel must be evidenced following a person’s salvation (Galatians 5:22-24). Internal heart change must produce external fruit (Matthew 7:18-20). The Bible makes this clear by repeatedly using a simple phrase – “one another”. Used … [Read more...]
