MBU theatre recounts ‘Christmas truce’ of 1914
ST. LOUIS – By the end of 1914, British and German troops had dug themselves into trenches across the European landscape. The nations of Europe had been engaged in warfare since that summer, and bloody years of fighting still lay ahead. But, on the eve of Christmas in 1914, soldiers for a short time remembered Christ’s message of hope and peace. On that day, some British soldiers heard German troops singing Christmas carols on the other side of the battlefield. So, the following day, they … [Read more...]

Fall retreats offer college students refreshment, community, life change
Fall. That time of year when yellowing leaves begin to waft slowly to the ground. When the mornings are cool and the evenings crisp. When the scent of burning wood and the sound of leaves crunching underfoot invigorate the senses. It is this time of year when many college ministries attend or hold fall retreats. With several weeks of class behind them, students have had a chance to investigate the ministries available to them. They’ve started to build community – or are still trying to … [Read more...]
The gift of hope, healing and restoration

It was a catalog filled with pictures of toys, games and all sorts of good stuff. We would look through it over and over, marveling at all the items. After having to make some really tough decisions, we would prepare our Christmas wish lists. We were limited to how many items we could put on that list and we soon learned to list our wishes in order of priority. … [Read more...]

The Ebeyers have been working for the last few years with the people in Isan, a region in Thailand where the Village of Three Temples is found. In this village, there is no Christian presence of any kind, and they … [Read more...]
A fitting close for people of faith
For 2021, the International Mission Board posted the following statistics: 592,408 people heard the gospel; there were 176,795 new believers, and 22,744 new churches. Our team of missionaries could not have attained those benchmarks were it not for your participation in the gospel through the Cooperative Program and the designated Lottie Moon Offering you gave through your local church, where every dollar goes to the mission field. And yet most of the world remains lost – 59 percent of the … [Read more...]
