Concord Baptist Members camp out for Chick-fil-a
JEFFERSON CITY – Three members of Concord Baptist Church here (from left, Gerad Fox, CR Miller and Chris Rhodes) were among those that camped out in sub-freezing temperatures for 24 hours prior to the opening of Chick-fil-A’s newest store at 6 a.m., Jan. 23. ESPN hires Tebow as SEC analyst
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP) – Tim Tebow is returning to football – not as a player, but as an analyst for ESPN. The former University of Florida star and Heisman Trophy winner will make his debut with the network Jan. 6 during pregame coverage of the NCAA national championship game between Auburn and Florida State. Abortions down in Missouri
JEFFERSON CITY – Recent statistics show an apparent decrease in state abortions, but leaders from Missouri Right to Life (MRL) caution citizens against celebrating too soon. In 2011, according to the latest statistics from the Missouri Department of Health, the number of abortions in Missouri reached 9,234. While this number is still too high for pro-life advocates, it is less than half of the 21,671 abortions reported in 1980. Four Missourians sue governor for same-sex marriage order
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Four Missouri taxpayers filed a lawsuit on Jan. 8 challenging Missouri Governor Jay Nixon’s recent executive order that permitted some same-sex couples to file a Missouri combined income tax return as “husband” and “wife” for 2013, in spite of a 2004 state constitutional amendment which defines marriage as between one man and one woman. Marriage suffers another blow with polygamy ruling
As most Americans were thinking thoughts of Christmas cheer, a federal judge in Utah dropped a bomb on the institution of marriage, striking down the most crucial sections of the Utah statute outlawing polygamy.
