As the Missouri General Assembly approaches its spring break, no less than 28 bills have been introduced in an effort to protect the unborn and health of the mother. Missouri is among the top three states with the most abortion restrictions introduced this year, according to Elizabeth Nash, the state policy director for the Guttmacher Institute, an abortion rights and research group. Such activity bears witness to the prayer warriors and pro-life activists determined to make abortions rare … [Read more...]

A call to faithfulness despite somber mood
O Lord, how my adversaries have increased! Many are rising up against me. But You, O Lord, are a shield about me, My glory and the One who lifts my head. – Psalm 3:1,3 For the past two weeks I have had the privilege of visiting with executive directors from other state conventions, editors of state convention newspapers and Southern Baptist leaders. It is an annual effort I make in order to get a first-hand impression of where Southern Baptists are at the moment. Carrying the … [Read more...]

The theme for this year’s march was adoption, which organizers called a “heroic decision” for women in crisis … [Read more...]
Planned Parenthood St. Louis opposes inspections despite 23 emergencies since ‘09
JEFFERSON CITY – A new bill proposed by Missouri lawmakers last week has a representative of the St. Louis Planned Parenthood, the last abortion clinic in that state, claiming that 23 hospitalized abortion patients and 44 pages of safety deficiencies are not a “problem.” The bill, HB 1478, sponsored by Missouri Right to Life, would require a minimum of four inspections of abortion clinics per year. If deficiencies are found, the new law would mandate the closing of the offending abortion … [Read more...]

LOUISVILLE (SBTS) – For Owen Strachan, convictions come with a cost. Strachan, assistant professor of Christian theology and church history at Boyce College, has been pro-life for many years. It wasn’t until recently, however, that he decided to act on his conviction. “I’ve been convictionally pro-life for a long time, but hadn’t taken an opportunity to get involved with the cause,” Strachan said. “I was a passionate advocate for pro-life thinking, but it wasn’t until coming into … [Read more...]
