COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – Don Hinkle, founding editor of The Pathway, was installed president of the Association of Southern Baptist Publications (ASBP) during the group’s meeting here Feb. 10-13. Last issue I called an audible requesting Missouri Baptists on April 8 to enter into a special time of prayer and fasting. Appeals Court denies MBC bid for Windermere jury trial
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. --- The Missouri Court of Appeals has denied the Missouri Baptist Convention’s bid for a jury trial to determine the legal ownership of Windermere Baptist Conference Center. Judges for the Court’s Southern District in Springfield on March 25 upheld a 2013 decision from the Circuit Court of Camden County, preventing a planned jury trial in April of last year. Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) has a great deal to celebrate, and the party is set for April 4-5. WMU’s “Missions Celebration” will be held at Second Baptist Church, Springfield. DR event draws large crowd
EUREKA – Approximately 225 people attended the first 2014 Disaster Relief (DR) training event at Central Baptist Church here, Feb. 21-22. Almost half of the participants were first-time trainees. Associate State Director Dave Wells said attendance in the 180s is normal for training. Three other training events are scheduled this year. Appeals court hears MBC appeal of Windermere
SPRINGFIELD – Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) attorneys on March 3 asked an appeals court to reverse a trial judge’s refusal last April to permit a jury trial in MBC’s decade-long effort to recover Windermere Baptist Conference Center (WBCC).
