Rick Hedger has seen the light – that is, the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ shining in dark places. As Partnership Missions strategist and team leader for Missional Evangelism/Discipleship, Hedger feels powerfully compelled to obey Jesus’ command to go and make disciples of all people. Along with other Missouri Baptists, Hedger is helping awaken Missouri’s more than 1,900 Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) churches to the greatest challenge the world has ever known: taking the … [Read more...]
NAMB online map connects mission needs with volunteers
By Sara Shelton of the North American Mission Board ALPHARETTA, Ga. – When the Baptist Convention of New England (BCNE) came into possession of an old church building in Worcester, Mass., earlier this year, the staff knew exactly what they wanted to do with it. “We were fortunate enough to have the building donated to us, and now we hope to turn it into a church planting center for training planters in the New England area,” explains Tim Buehner, evangelism consultant and mission … [Read more...]
Send North America sparks Ala.-St. Louis church plant
Like thousands of other Southern Baptist churches, First Baptist Church of Hokes Bluff, Ala., has a long and treasured history of missions involvement. Several of our families have served as foreign missionaries. We have given substantially to missions through our local association, the Cooperative Program and special Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) offerings. Yet despite that long history, it has been nearly 15 years since our last missionary family left the field. This has left us … [Read more...]

The HIS team met Oct. 21 in St. Joseph, the southernmost hub city on the corridor that stretches through the Upper Midwest into Canada. During the meeting, a job description and responsibilities for the HIS … [Read more...]
God is moving, working in Missouri, let’s join Him
One essential part of an Annual Meeting is greeting the people we know and meeting new people who have joined us in our cooperative ministries. This year was no exception, as godly men and women gathered and fellowshipped. Sure, we had business to do, but this year it was obvious that we took away from the meeting a much deeper understanding of the ways of God. The meeting in Kansas City is now history. However, if you haven’t watched from the website the executive director’s address, … [Read more...]
Thanks from Pathway staff; pray for the persecuted
I would like to thank those of you at the Missouri Baptist Convention’s annual meeting who offered kind words of encouragement to The Pathway staff. Your overwhelming affirmation of your state newspaper is humbling. We are grateful to God for the privilege to serve Southern Baptists in Missouri and around the world. We will try even harder to exceed your expectations for truth and information from a biblical worldview perspective. I would also like to thank the nearly 1,000 messengers … [Read more...]

Missourians break the missionary mold: CP is godsend, CPA-turned-missionary says
SANTIAGO, Chile – David Stow does not fit the stereotypical mold of a missionary, yet his role as team leader over the International Mission Board’s (IMB) office of overseas finance in Chile allows him to see the impact that all Southern Baptists can make around the world. “Fifteen years ago, I thought missionaries were preachers and people who were outgoing evangelists,” David said. He described himself, on the other hand, as an introvert who grew up attending North Star Baptist Church, … [Read more...]
