Spring is new life

March 29, 2024 By Julie Ball

EDITOR'S NOTE: Julie Ball serves as vice president for The LIGHT House, an affiliate of MBCH Children and Family Ministries. I’ve been in my position for 12 years. Twelve years is a long time. In those years I have changed, times have changed, the world has changed, and our clients have changed. After a dozen years, it is easy to get stagnant, easy to enter autopilot mode, easy to take it easy. Residential programming is hard, turnover is exhausting, and burnout is likely. With God’s … [Read more...]

Pro-life ministries of the MBCH’s LIGHT House continue to grow

June 1, 2022 By Julie Ball

For most of our existence, The LIGHT House has served expectant mothers in our maternity home. The last several years, however, have created continual challenges for the most vulnerable families and we are constantly exploring new ministry opportunities. Our parent agency, MBCH Children and Family Ministries has ministered to young mothers in crisis through both maternity homes and in-home programs for many years. It has been a longtime goal of The LIGHT House to create a similar Home-Based … [Read more...]

The LIGHT House continues to fulfill our mission statement: The LIGHT House is … [Read more...]

September 7, 2020 By Julie Ball

At the beginning of 2020, I was reflecting on changes I wanted to make and ways I hoped to grow over the upcoming year. My life was so busy and seemed at times to be almost out of control. I had heard the phrase “hurry sickness” and decided to do some research to see if I was afflicted with this “illness”. I found a checklist of symptoms: • Constant state of worry/stress – check. • Consistently multitasking – check. • Always feeling rushed/moving quickly – check. • Anxious when things … [Read more...]

Where life is given hope for tomorrow

February 5, 2020 By Julie Ball

Christians throughout the United States observe January as Sanctity of Human Life Month. This is an opportunity for churches to remember the millions of lives lost to abortion since 1973. It is important for us to not only remember the lives lost, but to pray and provide the resources needed by young mothers so they will not see abortion as an answer to their situations. The LIGHT House is on the front lines, working with young women and their families in sharing the truth about the … [Read more...]

Keep your children safe in the digital age

July 31, 2019 By Julie Ball

According to a parents’ survey conducted by the US Department of Education, 98% of children have access to technology. Technology is everywhere and changes daily! It is no surprise that parents struggle to know where to find the most current information about what kids are doing online and how to keep children safe. The LIGHT House (an affiliate of MBCH Children and Family Ministries) offers a number of classes to help provide parents and children with the most up-to-date and relevant … [Read more...]
