After 38 years of service, MBC’s Hutson begins move to The Baptist Home
JEFFERSON CITY – Longtime Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) missionary Spencer Hutson began his transition this month to serving with The Baptist Home as an advancement officer. Though Hutson will complete 2020 as liaison with the MBC’s Executive Office, he has already begun to collaborate with The Baptist Home in an effort to strengthen its relationship with the MBC and its churches. JEFFERSON CITY – During an Aug. 7 meeting at the Baptist building, The Baptist Home (TBH) and The Baptist Home Foundation Board of Trustees met to hear financial and consultant reports and to vote on several recommendations. MBCH celebrates 80 permanencies, moves forward with strategic plan
BRIDGETON – Trustees met via videoconference and in person – spread out across the MBCH’s chapel – for their board meeting July 28. Though they noted many challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, bright spots emerged as well. Trustees celebrated 42 permanencies in the second quarter, and 80 in 2020 thus far. SBU alumnus killed while helping stranded motorist
BOLIVAR – Southwest Baptist University (SBU) alumnus and Southern Baptist church planter John Powell, 38, was killed on July 18, while helping a stranded motorist on U.S. Highway 75 in Sherman, Texas. Powell graduated from SBU in 2005 with a degree in biblical studies, and at the time of his death he was serving as pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in New Caney, Texas.
