BRIDGETON – It’s a constant retort from those that defend abortion: “Women facing an unplanned pregnancy often don’t have any other option. They don’t know how or can’t take care of an infant without any support. It’s better to just terminate the pregnancy.” The Missouri Baptist Children’s Home (MBCH) stands at hand, ready to give that support. In the second quarter of 2015, MBCH served 12 women in its pregnancy resedential program in St. Louis, and 78 women through in-home services in … [Read more...]

COLUMBIA – Approximately 250 people gathered in front of the Planned Parenthood facility on North Providence Road here Aug. 22 to protest the organization’s selling of aborted baby body parts. Pro-life protesters held up signs and chanted various messages directed at Planned Parenthood, calling for the end of abortions and for the nation’s largest provider of abortions to be defunded. Donner runs for girls harmed by abortion
HOLTS SUMMIT – Sharonda Donner never thought much about the harmful effects of abortion until it touched her own family. A few years ago, Donner learned that one of her family members, after having some abortions, suffered emotionally and even became suicidal. “We need to pray to end abortion,” Donner, now a member at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Holts Summit, told her mother after learning about how this family member was suffering. “It is really destroying families—not only the baby … [Read more...]
HLGU, SBU weigh CCCU options in light of gay marriage policy
BOLIVAR – What started as policy changes at two obscure Mennonite colleges has grown into a nationwide controversy leaving Bible-believing institutions like Southwest Baptist University (SBU) and Hannibal-LaGrange University (HLGU) caught in the middle. Goshen College, an Indiana school affiliated with the Mennonite Church USA, announced in July it would expand hiring and benefits practices to include employees in same-sex marriages. Eastern Mennonite University in Virginia, also connected … [Read more...]
Fight to defund PPFA ‘far from over’
WASHINGTON (BP) — The legislative effort to defund Planned Parenthood failed Monday (Aug. 3) in the U.S. Senate, but pro-life advocates said they will not give up. The Senate voted 53-46 to bring to the floor a bill to eliminate federal funds for the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and its affiliates. In its latest financial report (2013-14), PPFA said it received more than $528 million in federal grants, contracts and reimbursements. It performed 327,653 abortions in … [Read more...]
Unions force members to fund abortion
JEFFERSON CITY – Missouri union members who have religious objections to abortion may want to watch where their union fees are going, since unions across the nation have poured thousands of dollars into the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA). But bills proposed by both state and federal lawmakers promise to change this scenario by keeping unions from forcing pro-lifers to fund PPFA. According to Missouri Representative Eric Burlison, a Republican from Battlefield, unions – … [Read more...]
Tweet it, Share it: Advice from the man who exposed a KC area abortion clinic
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – A pro-life activist who exposed an abortion clinic here for trafficking in aborted baby body parts 15 years ago has a piece of advice for those who want to defund Planned Parenthood: Keep the scandal in front of the world’s eyes by using social media. In 2000, Mark Crutcher released a report, providing evidence that the Planned Parenthood clinic in Overland Park, Kansas, was trafficking in aborted baby body parts. Today, nearly half of the Missouri women who get … [Read more...]
Missourians stand for life in Columbia

HLGU, SBU, MBCH react to SCOTUS ruling
JEFFERSON CITY – Leaders from Missouri Baptist entities – Southwest Baptist University (SBU), Hannibal-LaGrange University (HLGU) and the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home (MBCH) – have had time to digest the June 26 United States Supreme Court ruling legalizing gay marriage. They are unanimous in their disagreement with the court, but believe their legal standing is valid – for now – as they maintain the close, covenant relationship with the Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) and a … [Read more...]
Will your church’s insurance be enough?
In the wake of the Supreme Court’s Obergefell decision, churches are worried about lawsuits. This isn’t an irrational fear. I don’t think any Court will soon order ministers to perform a service that conflicts with the minister’s faith. But there is a shift in public opinion that makes it plausible in the future. The definition of ‘fairness’ is changing. In the past, if one minister or church refused to marry a couple, the couple would find another minister or church. This was “fair,” … [Read more...]
Taking steps to protect our religious freedom
There can be little doubt where the Obergefell v. Hodges ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court, which redefined marriage to include same-sex couples, is headed with regard to religious liberty. The attacks on Christians – who refuse to go against their deepest held beliefs and cave to the fantasized reasoning of judicial tyrants, government hypocrites and bullying activists – are mounting by the day. For now, the targets are government workers and private business owners who are involved in the … [Read more...]
One man, one woman for life, same as it ever was
Across town, the annual Gay Pride parade was setting attendance records. The usual assortment of flamboyant costumes swirled around revelers celebrating the previous day’s victory over an ancient institution they’d found confining. One straight couple said they brought their toddlers, Fox and Bear (no kidding), so they could understand both freedom and homosexuality. About five miles down the road, in the little church my mother attends, the Ledbetter clan was gathered with other great … [Read more...]
