HANNIBAL – Six Northeast Missouri Directors of Missions have answered a call to pray, and they are extending the invitation to their member churches to gather in prayer.
The Northeast Missouri (NEMO) Prayer Summit for Revival and Spiritual awakening is April 18 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Roland Fine Arts Center on the Hannibal-LaGrange University campus here.
“We responded to the call from Dr. John Yeats (executive director of the Missouri Baptist Convention) and Dr. Jim Wells (MBC strategic partners team leader) to call pastors and church leaders together to pray for spiritual renewal in the country, state, their associations and their churches,” said Richard Nations, DOM of the Thousand Hills Baptist Association in Kirksville.
“The meeting should be a challenging time for our church leaders to step aside a few hours and pour their hearts out to God. Historically, one of the hallmarks of revival is churches taking time for extended prayer meetings.”
Similar prayer meetings have been held elsewhere in Missouri. The MBC’s Wells said that those summits in Springfield, Ferguson and Kansas City have revealed a mighty work of God.
An HLGU student praise team will lead in worship for the April prayer meeting here, with focus messages from Wells and from HLGU President Anthony Allen. Area pastors will also share God’s word.
The NEMO prayer summit is a cooperative venture between the MBC, HLGU and six NEMO associations, including the Bethel Baptist Association, Crossroads Baptist Association, Mt. Salem/Wyaconda Baptist Association, Pleasant Grove Baptist Association, Salt River Baptist Association, and Thousand Hills Baptist Association.
No RSVP is needed since no meal is served. Pastors and church leaders are just encouraged to come and pray.
