Missouri Baptists ‘Forward’ to Springfield

September 23, 2015 By The Pathway

SPRINGFIELD – Messengers will be challenged to move “Forward” with Christ and in ministry as they gather at the Springfield Expo Center here for the 181st annual meeting of the Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC), Oct. 26-28.

“Forward,” the theme of the annual meeting, is based on Philippians 3:13-14: “But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

The annual meeting will feature addresses from MBC Executive Director John Yeats and MBC President Neil Franks on the evening of Oct. 26. Then, on the morning of Oct. 27, Pastor Robert Shelton of First Baptist, Plattsburg, will present the annual convention sermon. Special guest Ronnie Floyd, senior pastor of Cross Church in northwest Arkansas and president of the Southern Baptist Convention, will preach on Oct. 28.

Worship will be led by First Baptist Branson’s worship team for the first two days of the event, and for the final day by Julio Arriola, global worship pastor of Cross Church.

In addition to the business portion of annual meeting, Missouri Baptists will be challenged to make disciples, plant churches, and develop leaders during CORE. Special guest speakers at CORE include Eric Geiger, vice president of the Resources Division at LifeWay Christian Resources, and David Kinnaman, president and majority owner of the Barna Group.

The annual meeting begins with pre-session music at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 and concludes with the benediction at noon on Oct. 28.
