Travis Cottrell coming to HLGU/MBC event

HANNIBAL – Hannibal-LaGrange University will host the Refresh Worship Arts Conference September 18-19, featuring a night of worship with Travis Cottrell and his band. Cohosts for this event include the Missouri Baptist Convention and the Illinois Baptist State Association.

The Refresh Worship Arts Conference is targeted to pastors, worship pastors, ministers of music, music leaders, choir members, and anyone who enjoys and appreciates church music and worship.

Registration for the event is $50 and includes worship with Travis Cottrell and band, three breakout sessions with area experts, and a panel discussion with all presenters.

The selection of breakout sessions will include topics such as keeping the choir relevant in a contemporary world, the pastor as lead worshipper, multigenerational worship, the basics of audio, advanced audio, and qualities and characteristics of effective leaders.

Presenters include Rick Hedger, missional evangelism and discipleship team leader for the Missouri Baptist Convention; John Francis, instrumental music director and director of Praise Song at Hannibal-LaGrange University; Steve Hamrick, director of worship and technology church resources team of the Illinois Baptist State Association; Brad Newbold, chapel worship leader and music department staff member at Hannibal-LaGrange University; Chris Ramsey, worship pastor at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, St. Charles; Josh Tanner, worship pastor at Calvary Baptist Church, Hannibal; and Chris Rhodes, media, technology, and events group leader at the Missouri Baptist Convention.

In a sweeping First Amendment decision issued March 31, the United States Supreme Court removed a virtual gag on free speech which the state of Colorado had imposed on Christian counselors when talking to minors about their sexuality. The Chiles decision has immediate implications beyond Colorado—including within the state of Missouri.
