‘Experiencing God’ meetings coming soon to St. Louis

September 24, 2012 By The Pathway

ST. LOUIS — “Experiencing God: St. Louis” is coming in October. The pastors from several denominations are uniting to bring the Blackaby Ministries International (BMI) team to St. Louis for the conference set for Oct. 12-16.

Harold Hendrick, member of First Baptist Church, Ferguson, and radio host of KSIV’s Encounter, serves as convener for the planning group.

“As we began praying for the possibility of this experience,” Hendrick said, “a group of people emerged, people with a heart for God. We have a desire for others to have a relational experience with God.”

Jim Plymale, director of missions, Franklin County Baptist Association, also serves on the planning committee for the conference.
“This is a real step of faith for all of us on the planning committee,” Plymale said. “We want real revival among believers and to have conviction of the lost. Working with all denominations will have an impact on the Christian community.”
Hendrick agreed that this conference could have a major impact.

“We want to broaden the tent of those walking with Jesus,” he said. “We want to join God where He is working and this will resonate in St. Louis.”

The Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) has contributed $5,000 toward the conference.

“This is a good investment,” Plymale said. “This donation, with the contribution of other denominations, will keep the cost for the individual down. Our goal is to have a large number participate and to extend the conference to include many people.”
Sessions for the conference will be held at several locations.

“Experiencing God Through Revival and Awakening,” featuring Henry, Richard and Mike Blackaby, will be at Twin Oaks Presbyterian Church Oct. 12-13. The schedule will be as follows: Oct. 12, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Oct. 13, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

“Experiencing God as Students” is an area-wide gathering of students focusing on God’s calling to make a difference in your generation by living in such a way to make an impact for Christ. It features Daniel Blackaby, author of Legend of the Bookkeeper, and co-author of When Worlds Collide, speaking Oct. 13 at Abundant Life Church.

A metro-area worship gathering known as “Experiencing God Through the Generations” will be held Oct. 14 at 4 p.m. at Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church. It will feature three generations of the Blackaby Family: Henry, Richard and Daniel.

“Experiencing God: Helping Others Experience God,” a conference for Christians (particularly leaders) in the church and marketplace, will be held Oct. 15-16 at St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Belleville, Ill., from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. both days. It will feature Henry, Richard, and Tom Blackaby as well as the BMI Team.

The two-day events Oct. 12-13 and 15-16 have a registration charge. The one-time events on Saturday evening (the youth rally) and Sunday evening are free.
