Committees recommend moving MBC to California

JEFFERSON CITY—Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) Interim Executive Director David Tolliver announced to MBC staffers Oct. 8 that he will recommend to the MBC Executive Board at its Oct. 29 meeting a plan to move the convention headquarters to six acres of donated land in California, Mo.

Tolliver said both the MBC Building Relocation Committee and MBC Administrative Committee are unanimously recommending the deal, which would result in the MBC moving into a newly constructed building by 2009, Tolliver said.

He also announced that there is a potential buyer for the Baptist Building and that the sale may ultimately be for $1.3-$1.7 million. The Baptist Building has been the home of the MBC since 1970. More details will be forthcoming in the next issue of The Pathway.

Cultivating wisdom in a post-Christian culture

Harrison Lang

As American Christians in the 21st century, we have already fought many battles over political and cultural issues in the first quarter of this century. These battles have borne real fruit for the cause of Christ and the common good—whether the overturning of Roe v. Wade or the ongoing protection of religious liberty. Contrary to the doom some people have predicted, our nation has seen significant progress. That said, Christians must still engage the public square with confidence and discernment in Christ.
