Man finds money, power will not satisfy
KINGSVILLE — For years Chris Blunt believed success in life was directly related to the amount of money and power a person acquired. Determined, he climbed the corporate ladder of major telecommunications companies, first with Nextel then later with Sprint, and let his career in the business world define him. His job has taken him from upstate New York to Virginia to Michigan, and finally to Missouri. A relationship with God never entered the equation. “My life was centered on work, … [Read more...]

Cowboy church begins to leave its brand
FREDERICKTOWN – The Cooperative Program can send a ministry dollar around the world, across the country, or sometimes to a condemned restaurant in southeast Missouri. God’s Country Cowboy Church here began when Steve Francis looked down Highway 67 from his work at Black River Electric Coop and admired the view. Across the highway and sharing the same view was an old restaurant that had been condemned after a 2008 “inland hurricane” blew in the ceiling. The building was finally repaired, … [Read more...]

When I was a kid, I always wondered why anyone would ever choose Frankenberry over Count Chocula. Because … chocolate. That was my entire reason. Of course, even though I was only a kid, I still instinctively knew that cereal chocolate didn’t really count as true chocolate. It was actually the first bite of Cocoa Krispies that tipped me off. It was more like: snap, crackle, I don’t think so. I’m sorry, but I’ve just never been all that cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. I think it might be simulated. … [Read more...]
