Just when you think America cannot plunge any deeper into sinful, secular darkness comes one of the most barbaric developments ever conceived against America’s children. Boston’s Children’s Hospital fancies itself as a leading children’s hospital. But there’s more. It also bills itself as the hospital for children who want a sex change. To call this monstrous does not do the matter justice.
The hospital has launched a clinic for transgendered children – boys who feel like girls, girls who want to be boys – as young as 7. Children receive counseling and drugs that delay the onset of puberty, according to Dr. Norman Spack, a pediatric specialist for the clinic. “The drugs stop the natural flood of hormones that would make it difficult to have a sex alteration later in life, allowing patients more time to decide whether they want to make a change,” Fox News reported earlier this year.
In another treatment for teenagers, Spack offers hormone therapy, a radical approach that alters the way teens grow and develop. While the treatments’ effects can be stopped, long-term hormone therapy can be irreversible, causing permanent infertility in both sexes. So much for, “be fruitful and multiply.” Spack argues transgendered children are deeply troubled and have a “high level of suicide attempts. I’ve never seen any patient make (a suicide attempt) after they’ve started hormonal treatment,” he told The Boston Globe. Spack conveniently overlooks research that shows homosexual and transgendered people have 25-to-30-years less life expectancy and higher suicidal rates once they reach adulthood than do heterosexuals. Since research shows homosexuals having sex about twice as often as heterosexuals, it is easier to understand why homosexuals suffer from significantly increased chances of contracting AIDS, fatal rectal cancer and infectious hepatitis. Homosexuals overwhelmingly favor taxpayer-funded, national healthcare.
So let’s call evil by its name. On a spiritual level gender reassignment flies in the face of God’s created order as detailed in Genesis 1:27-28. On a human level it is nothing but child abuse. It compounds confusion on the part of the child. Furthermore, attempts to delay puberty or change someone’s gender, as professor of psychiatry Dr. Paul McHugh of Johns Hopkins University says, is a rejection of the lawfulness of nature. McHugh is even harsher in his criticism, telling Fox News that such cruel treatments for children harken back to the Dark Ages, when choir boys were castrated to retain their high-pitched voices. “It’s barbaric,” McHugh flatly says
Transgender disorder is a mental disorder, not a medical one and it should be treated with behavior modification, not drugs or surgery, legal and medical experts warn. “Just as you don’t give liposuction to an anorexic, you don’t do sexual reassignment surgery on men who think that they are women and vice versa, Mat Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, a legal charity affiliated with Liberty University, told Fox News. McHugh agrees, noting that at stages in their lives, many children role play as the opposite sex, “but it is a social, not a medical issue.”
Some legal theorists believe parents and doctors may face litigation if children become sterile due to hormonal treatments. “We will eventually start to see such parents and doctors sued – and possibly arrested – for what is essentially child abuse,” Alliance Defending Freedom attorney Austin Nimrocks told Fox News. “Just because modern medicine can accomplish certain things does not mean that these procedures should be done. That’s the mindset of a Dr. Kevorkian, and he wound up in jail.”
In the face of such aspirational evil comes some right thinking. A short film has premiered on Youtube.com, “The Magician’s Twin,” which highlights the views of C.S. Lewis on science and society. While arguing that science is a good thing – and indeed it is, the film warns us that it can be hijacked to attack our faith, undermine ethics and limit human freedom. Sound familiar?
Some examples of such hijacking offered in the film include:
“Darwin made it possible to be an intellectually fulfilled atheist,” claims one scientist.
“It may be necessary to put democracy on hold for a while,” insists another.
The chief medical editor for NBC News argues that eliminating handicapped babies through abortion is “pro-science.”
A biologist at the University of Texas contends we need to reduce the human population by up to 90 percent in the name of biodiversity.
“The Magician’s Twin” is based on the recent book of the same name, which features essays about Lewis’ views on these subjects. The film is free to watch and I encourage you to do so.
