Women’s Ministry Advisory Council conducts survey

November 13, 2016 By Baptist Press

ATLANTA (BP) – Fourteen women, including Pathway Columnist Rhonda Rhea, met for two days in Atlanta to continue their discussion about increasing the participation of women in the Southern Baptist Convention.

Frank S. Page, president of the SBC Executive Committee, appointed the Women’s Ministry Advisory Council to gather information concerning the involvement of women’s ministry leaders and ministry wives in their Southern Baptist churches. With the purpose of involving women in convention life, the task force has been at work since January conducting a survey and researching resources specifically for women.

Information gleaned from the survey and the research of the task force members will be presented to the SBC Executive Committee in February 2017 and to the Southern Baptist Convention meeting in Phoenix next June. Recommendations will be made to all SBC entities to increase the involvement of women in biblically appropriate ways in local churches and beyond.

Cultivating wisdom in a post-Christian culture

Harrison Lang

As American Christians in the 21st century, we have already fought many battles over political and cultural issues in the first quarter of this century. These battles have borne real fruit for the cause of Christ and the common good—whether the overturning of Roe v. Wade or the ongoing protection of religious liberty. Contrary to the doom some people have predicted, our nation has seen significant progress. That said, Christians must still engage the public square with confidence and discernment in Christ.
