MB125 Conference returning to Branson

June 5, 2016 By The Pathway

BRANSON – A time of teaching, relaxation and networking for small church leaders and their families is returning to Branson.

Mb125, a Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) event that centers on pastors of the normative size church in Missouri, those that average 125 or fewer in attendance on a Sunday morning, will take place at Skyline Baptist Church, Branson, June 22-25. Cost per family is $149 total for the three nights in a hotel and includes four meals for first-time participants  . The cost rises to $199 per family after May 31. The cost is $50 more for “alumni,” or returning participants. Space is limited. Childcare and youth tracks will be provided, with women’s-only tracks during the day.

All topics will be relevant to the smaller church. There will be plenty of time for fun in the afternoons and evenings with your respective families. Speakers this year include Chuck Kelley, the president of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and Micah Fries, a former Missouri Baptist pastor who is now the vice president of LifeWay Research. Gary Mathes, pastoral ministry specialist for the MBC, said if past year’s feedback is any indication, this summer’s mb125 will be a success.

Mathes, MBC pastoral ministry specialist, noted that the cost is kept intentionally low to make it as easy as possible for the pastor of any size church to attend. The remainder of the event’s costs is being covered by gifts through the Cooperative Program and Missouri Missions Offering.

To register or for more information, go to mobaptist.org/mb125 or call 1-800-736-6227 ext. 336 or go to mobaptist.org/pastoral-ministry/mb125/

If attendees bring families, each child attending must have a completed medical release form submitted at least one week before the conference. The forms are at mobaptist.org/pastoral-ministry/mb125/.

U.S. Supreme Court hears cases of transgender athletes

Timothy Cockes

The U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments Tuesday (Jan.13) in two cases regarding state laws seeking to clarify competition in sports according to biological sex. Both cases (West Virginia v. B.P.J. and Little v. Hecox) involve biological males challenging state laws which barred them from competing on female sports teams.

Widow recounts God’s faithfulness following husband’s death during mission trip in Mexico

Richard Nations

While on a mission trip in San Felipe Usila in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, in September 2024, a member of First Baptist Church, Camdenton, Mike Luttrell, suffered a cardiac arrest and died while walking down a street in the village. His wife, Connie, was with him and she recently provided a narrative to The Pathway about the incident and how God was so faithful to her and the mission volunteers as they went through the traumatic incident and made arrangements to return to the United States.
