SPRINGFIELD—The Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) continued to emphasize prayer during its various times together Oct. 24-27 in and around the 176th annual meeting.
In a prayer breakfast Oct. 27 in the John Q. Room , MBC Prayer and Spiritual Awakening Specialist Bob Loggins seated the 34 participants around four tables with fruit of the Spirit labels from Galatians 5:22-23. People at the tables then prayed for the nation, churches, pastors, and denominational leaders.
Sue Stoltz, who oversees the Midwest Region for National Day of Prayer, then gave instruction on prayer. Her jurisdiction includes Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma.
In a Solemn Assembly held Oct. 24 in the Colorado Room of the University Plaza, approximately 30 people gathered to pray for cleansing in the United States of America, for Missouri Baptist churches, and in the lives of individual disciples.
Loggins divided the group into five prayer units. Seated in circles, they prayed for our nation to return to God, for our denomination (pastors, deacons, spiritual leaders, laity) to experience revival, and for the prayer warriors themselves to be purified in their thought lives.
About one-third of the participants were MBC staffers and wives. Throughout the meeting, MBC Worship Specialist John Francis played softly on a Roland electronic keyboard as Loggins spoke.
In between the Solemn Assembly and the prayer breakfast, Loggins was up on the platform at the Expo Center at various times to lead messengers in prayer.
A prayer room was maintained throughout the convention for the purpose of praying for convention leaders, messengers, churches and all those in need of renewal, revival, spiritual awakening, and salvation. The desire was to experience unity and oneness in Christ through the power of God the Father and the work of the Holy Spirit’s presence.
