SPRINGFIELD – Messengers to the Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) voted four familiar faces into the convention offices at the Oct. 25-27 annual meeting here. The officers are: John Marshall, president; Wesley Hammond, first vice president; Micah Fries, second vice president; and Jamie Hitt, recording secretary.
Marshall, pastor of Second Baptist Church, was unopposed in the election for MBC president. Marshall is the immediate outgoing first vice president of the convention.
In the race for first vice president, Hammond, pastor of First Baptist, Paris, ran against Dennis Jackson, associate pastor at Anchor Point, Independence, and Danny Decker, pastor of First Baptist, Warsaw. Hammond won with 57 percent of the vote. He just rotated off the MBC Executive Board.
It was a two-man race for second vice president with Fries, pastor at Frederick Boulevard, St. Joseph, and Aaron Weibel, pastor of New Site, Monett. Fries won 65 percent of the vote. Fries was also elected president-elect of the MBC Pastors’ Conference Oct. 25.
Current recording secretary Jamie Hitt of First Baptist, Winfield, was re-elected to her post with no opposition.
