Horse whisperer event draws more than 1,000

By Staff

September 20, 2005

DIAMOND – A horse whisperer evangelism event was held Aug. 20 here with approximately 1,000-1,200 in attendance. About 800 Bibles were distributed.

Horse whisperers are people who use commands and touches to break wild horses. Last year, the Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) trained 14 men to do this while sharing the Gospel at the same time. One of those men, Billy Epperson of Springhill Baptist Church, Springfield, came to Diamond to show how it is done.

One boy came to Christ and another gentleman rededicated his life, according to the host pastor, Ron Crow, of First Baptist Church, Diamond.

“This was better than any revival I’ve attended,” Crow said. “In fact, I told our people, ‘This is our fall revival.’”

There was plenty of free food, with four large pots of cowboy beans, hot dogs, snow cones, pop and water. Buggy rides and pony rides were also offered for free.

Next year’s event is scheduled for Aug. 19, Crow said.
