KANSAS CITY – Missouri Baptists are in for some powerful vocal performances during the annual meeting from musical group Veritas. The quintet of classically trained vocalists is slated to perform twice during the Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) Annual Meeting, during the Oct. 29 afternoon and evening sessions.
“The breadth of their classical, traditional and contemporary styles is only overshadowed by their genuine passion to lead people toward worship of the living Lord Jesus,” said John Yeats, MBC executive director.
Veritas brings a fresh approach to the contemporary classical genre. The group has performed on stages around the world, including a performance for the former President of the United States, George W. Bush. Veritas is comprised of Jeff Anderson, James Berrian, Andrew Goodwin, Jordan Johnson and Lucas Scott Lawrence.
Messengers may recognize Veritas from their involvement with the ReFRESH Conference in Branson this spring. Before coming to Kansas City, they will be performing in concert Oct. 27 at First Baptist, Farmington.
Their self-titled first album is available online at www.veritasfive.com and at the annual meeting.
All five members have Southern Baptist connections. James Berrian is a graduate of the University of Mobile, a Southern Baptist school affiliated with the Alabama Baptist Convention and was minister of music at First Baptist Church, Satsuma, Ala., before joining Veritas. Andrew Goodin, Jordan Johnson and Scott Lawrence all attended or graduated from the University of Mobile, as well. Jeff Anderson has been a featured vocalist with the Bill Graham Evangelistic Association.
