LEBANON – Instead of hanging out at the lake or sleeping the summer away, 62 college students chose to answer God’s call and be missionaries this summer through the Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC). One of those 62 was Ashley Livingston, who spent her summer working alongside one other collegiate missionary with Laclede Baptist Association. Each MBC collegiate summer missionary has a difference assignment and experience, but for Livingston the job meant a week of training, four weeks of … [Read more...]

Stewardship help for churches gaining ‘Traction’
JEFFERSON CITY – With the economy still in uncertain waters and giving on a steady decline, a new emphasis hopes to give churches “traction” when it comes to teaching Godly stewardship and tithing. “We do an emphasis each year, but Traction is specifically about tithing,” said Spencer Hutson, church strengthening team leader for the Missouri Baptist Convention. “It’s something a lot of churches are asking for help with. This is a tool a church can use to promote biblical tithing, but … [Read more...]

The program has long made a difference in the lives of children, aged 2-14, and the often broken families from which many of Ginnings’ charges come. Her love for children has activated her church to share the vision. The church held a multi-faceted W.E.E. Care … [Read more...]
Adam’s sin root cause of unrest in Ferguson
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (BP) – On Aug. 9, Michael Brown, an unarmed 18-year-old African-American, was shot six times by Darren Wilson, a white Ferguson police officer. His family has called for justice in his shooting while urging residents of Ferguson to abstain from violence, but many African-Americans and some whites have taken their anger to the city’s streets in protest. As an African-American Christian, my first reaction to this sad story of a young man’s life cut short consists of anger … [Read more...]
BSU mission team fights trafficking in Moldova
ORHEI, Moldova – It was the first time she had truly been alone with her thoughts since their mission team arrived in Moldova, and Jamie Jackson couldn’t stop crying. The friends she had made in just a short amount of time, Valentina (13) and her brother, Nelu (14), were coming up on that age. “If they have nowhere to go, they’ve got nowhere to go,” said Jackson, a … [Read more...]

TEHRAN, Iran – Christian persecution and yes, genocide, is real in the world today, and Naghmeh Abedini is calling out to the body of Christ to pray. Sept. 26 will mark two long years since her husband and American pastor, Saeed Abedini, was imprisoned in Iran for his Christian faith. And most recently, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorists were brought into the same prison as Saeed. Let’s honor God with our final distribution
The final distribution happens to everyone – no exceptions. There comes that time when everything we earned, inherited, accumulated or owned at death is distributed to loved ones, to our church, to ministries/organizations we value, to creditors, or to a dumpster. For the person who wants to be known for faithfulness and gratitude, the way we manage our stuff is important. Our Lord is very interested in us being faithful with the things of this world. He told the wise servant, “Well … [Read more...]
