NASHVILLE – Amid all the young faces making up the crowd at the SEND Conference, there was also talk of the old. Not old Christians – though there were plenty represented – but old and dying churches that can see new life by being replanted to reach their communities for the gospel. Kansas City’s John Mark Clifton, along with First Baptist, Woodstock, Ga.’s Johnny Hunt, led an Aug. 4 break out session focusing on the idea of legacy church planting and revitalization for several hundred … [Read more...]
Rock-N-Roll Church revs up ministry to bikers
CAPE GIRARDEAU — The Rock-N-Roll Church of Cape Girardeau freely admits it is different. A tagline on the church website reads: “This ain’t your grandma’s church.” It’s a church where rock and roll music is prevalent, and motorcycles, especially Harley-Davidsons are common. “People called us the Rock-N-Roll church,” Pastor Billy Garner said, adding the name stuck. On Sundays, the church praise and worship band Stronghold plays Christian rock songs. At other times and events, they play … [Read more...]
Unions force members to fund abortion
JEFFERSON CITY – Missouri union members who have religious objections to abortion may want to watch where their union fees are going, since unions across the nation have poured thousands of dollars into the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA). But bills proposed by both state and federal lawmakers promise to change this scenario by keeping unions from forcing pro-lifers to fund PPFA. According to Missouri Representative Eric Burlison, a Republican from Battlefield, unions – … [Read more...]

‘Character is the Key’: Royals GM says about team’s turnaround
KANSAS CITY (BP) — Kansas City Royals general manager Dayton Moore was headed off the field during 2012 spring training when a Royals minor league coach approached him. “Dayton,” the coach said, “God asked me to tell you something.” “Sure, what do you have, kid?” Moore replied. Moore says he will never forget the response: “Do your fighting on your knees.” The coach’s message was impactful in part because of the temptation to lash out at critics. The Royals had lost at least 90 games in … [Read more...]
