Deaf challenged to reach out
FULTON – The pastor asked the crowd to get into small groups to pray, and they did. But when they did, no heads were bowed, no eyes were closed and not a sound was heard. It was part of the 60th anniversary and annual meeting of the Missouri Baptist Conference of the … [Read more...]
195 years later, church still serves
PIEDMONT – When membership falls to single digits, many churches consider shuttering the doors. This isn’t so for the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in rural Piedmont, which will mark 195 years on September 20. “It’s just a little church out in the sticks in the Ozarks. The closest small town is seven miles away,“ said pastor Jimmy Lemonds, who began his pastorate August 2. “I had preached there before, and they had nine people. My first concern was, I wasn’t sure how long it … [Read more...]
MBCH serves women who choose life
BRIDGETON – It’s a constant retort from those that defend abortion: “Women facing an unplanned pregnancy often don’t have any other option. They don’t know how or can’t take care of an infant without any support. It’s better to just terminate the pregnancy.” The Missouri Baptist Children’s Home (MBCH) stands at hand, ready to give that support. In the second quarter of 2015, MBCH served 12 women in its pregnancy resedential program in St. Louis, and 78 women through in-home services in … [Read more...]

Forward with the gospel
There is a passion burning in the heart of Missouri Baptists of every generation to make a difference in Jesus’ name. We are commissioned to take the gospel to our communities, the nation, and to the ends of the earth. Acting on that commission is a deliberate step of faith we make daily. One observant Missouri Baptist pastor noted recently that Satan doesn’t need to attack a ministry sitting still; he attacks those making an impact for Christ. Recent attacks on the churches, our … [Read more...]
