SARCOXIE – For First Baptist Church here, the recipe for being a loving church is as simple as opening the door. That open door has led to the church of just over 100 canvassing their entire town in prayer walking and gospel distribution, as well as inviting the local school district to use the church’s gym for PE classes, volleyball and basketball practices. “That has created a really unique opportunity for us to partner with them but also to bridge that gap with the students, parents … [Read more...]
‘The harvest is plentiful’
SEDALIA – People were seated in the big tent which sat between a corn dog stand and a barbecue restaurant wafting smoky pork flavors through the tent. State fair-goers were interested in signing up for a chest freezer and 200 pounds of beef, pork and chicken. And they did, but they were able to sign up after they listened to a three-minute Christian testimony of a tent volunteer. And at least 35 of them asked Jesus into their heart there in the tent. David Mifflin, state fair evangelism … [Read more...]

BATON ROUGE – Leaders are desperately calling for volunteers as some 40,000 homes are still soggy from flooding in Louisiana. “The vast majority of those homes were not in a floodplain,” said Dwain Carter, director of Disaster Relief for the Missouri Baptist Convention (DR). “It’s just street after street, neighborhood after neighborhood with water in homes. If you drive by a ditch, it’s full of trailer homes, cars, trucks and motorhomes.” Currently, there are four Missouri Baptist … [Read more...]
Clergy offer lesson in civil disobedience
As we think about our morally degenerating society and what it means for the future of freedom of religion and freedom of speech, what are we to make of the 22 clergy recently found guilty of trespassing while protesting at the State Capitol? The incident raises serious questions about First Amendment rights and what the Bible has to say about civil disobedience, especially in light of the LGBT’s push for restrictions on what churches and religious institutions can do and say. We must … [Read more...]
