MBC messengers adopt report on office of pastor, urge churches to fight for life in 2026

During their 191st annual meeting, Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) messengers celebrated their Great Commission partnership and were challenged to reach and baptize 8,000 new believers across the state in 2026. They also urged churches to continue fighting for the life of the unborn, and they adopted a task force report regarding the “office of the pastor, specifically as it relates to a woman’s role in ministry.”

SBU welcomes more than 1,000 new students this fall

For the second consecutive year, SBU has an increase in total fall enrollment, thanks in part to the fourth straight year of growth in the incoming freshman class on the Bolivar campus. The university also saw gains in its Springfield-based Mercy College of Health Professions programs, as well as an increase in the incoming class for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program.

MMO supports Mo. Baptist Children’s Home, Redemption Ranch, VBS regional training

In Kelsey’s first month of service at the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home (MBCH), she met a client who shared a story of relapse, shame, and regret. Kelsey shared Jesus at the Holy Spirit’s prompting. Through the power of the gospel, the client faced reality and took responsibility for her situation. The work of the MBCH is among more than two dozen ministries supported by the Missouri Missions Offering (MMO). The MMO Eight Days of Prayer are Sept. 7-14.

FBC Memphis builds hope through outreach

Volunteers needed for HLGU Alumni & Friends work day, Aug. 9

Hannibal-LaGrange University is calling on volunteers to help prepare the campus for the new school year. The university will host its annual Alumni and Friends Work Day on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Volunteers will gather in the lobby of the first floor of the Burt Administration Building at 7:30 a.m. to kick off the morning.

For 30th year, Gasconade Valley Association mission team helps maintain HLGU campus

For 30 years, volunteers from the Gasconade Valley Baptist Association have gathered each summer to offer their time and skills to help maintain Hannibal-LaGrange University (HLGU). The project, which began with a handful of people, has grown into a tradition that now attracts over 30 volunteers each year.
