Collegiate interns join Disaster Relief ministry through the summer
JEFFERSON CITY – Maddy Atwell has the assignment to oversee Disaster Relief college interns during the summer months. She had 12 students in the program this summer. The program of Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief (DR) is intended to help students learn about serving the Lord through assisting survivors of disasters. Missouri DR supports relief efforts in Haiti
LES CAYES, Haiti – Missouri Baptists are responding after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake killed more than 2,000 people in Haiti, Aug. 14, leaving roughly 30,000 families homeless. There will be two training sessions held in the southern and western parts of the state to equip future and current volunteers. Trees, branches cleared after windstorm in Perry
PERRY – Wide-spread damage of trees and branches was reported in northeast Missouri after strong winds, up to 90 miles per hour hit the area. Al Groner, Northeast Regional Coordinator for Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief, said the Mark Twain Lake area, Monroe City, and Center all had some damage. JEFFERSON CITY – MBC Disaster Relief teams have been quite busy during the late spring and early summer in Missouri. JEFFERSON CITY – What started out as a project of the MBC Disaster Relief (DR) communications team to practice how they would deploy in a disaster situation, morphed into a full-scale disaster drill on a recent April weekend in Jefferson City. Missouri Disaster Relief volunteers bring help, hope to Louisiana
LAKE CHARLES, La. – Missouri Disaster Relief volunteers in early June brought help and hope to Louisiana residents faced with flood damage because of torrential rainfall in the area last month. It was reported that they had 20 inches of rainfall in two hours, which set new weather records.
