About this time last year, I was planning to attend my first Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) annual meeting. Needless to say, I was a bit nervous. For two days, I basically went from one meeting to another, met hundreds of Missouri Baptists, and shook more hands than I can count! It was an amazing experience, and I felt both honored and welcomed. Reflecting on the occasion, I have nothing but gratitude for the warm reception my family and I received from Missouri Baptists. In my first … [Read more...]

Among the … [Read more...]
Strasburg Baptist majors on children, families
STRASBURG – The population of the town of Strasburg is 107, according to the last census. There are a lot of small towns in Missouri that are similar size. Pastor Stephan Albin said there are about 80 adults and around 130 children and teens in the pews most Sundays. That is nearly double the town population. English club opens door to sharing gospel
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (IMB) – English club in Buenos Aires, Argentina, started out simple enough. Participants learned a few phrases, talked about American culture and listened to English vocabulary. As part of the curriculum, Chris and Rhonda Richard, International Mission Board missionaries from Hebron Baptist Church in Kentucky, introduced club members to “Three Circles.” This tool is often used by American churches to share the gospel. That’s when the club morphed from training … [Read more...]

Missouri DR volunteers help IMB missionary after tree falls on stateside home in Georgia
AUGUSTA, Ga. – Hurricane Helene was described by one official as a 400-mile-wide tornado, … which isn’t too far from reality. So, even though Asheville, N.C., has gotten much of the media’s attention, there’s been no less damage in neighboring states. That’s certainly the case in Augusta, Georgia — just 180 miles from Asheville — where volunteers with Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief (MODR) have been working since Sept. 26. “I would describe it as one big debris field,” said Toby Tucker, … [Read more...]

Language preservation provides gospel access for African tribal groups
When an older Muslim man grabbed her hand, IMB missionary Jackie Lewis was shocked. Muslim men do not customarily touch women who are not close relatives, especially young, single women like Lewis. The man pointed to a set of rocks arranged across the floor of the classroom. Each rock represented a different story from the Bible. They had just finished hearing the story concerning Isaiah’s prophecy of the coming Savior and stopped for a break. “Are you going to tell us the story of … [Read more...]
