U.S. Supreme Court: Colorado can’t force Christian web designer to support LGBT agenda

The Supreme Court today upheld the right of creative professionals to “just say no” to creating works that violate the creator’s religious conscience.   In a 6-3 vote, the Justices said, “The First Amendment prohibits Colorado from forcing a website designer to create expressive designs speaking messages with which the designer disagrees.”

Missouri Gov. Parson signs bill banning sex changes for minors

Gov. Mike Parson signed a bill, June 8,  preventing minors in Missouri from accessing puberty blockers, hormones, and surgeries that can alter their bodies irreparably. The enactment of this bill comes less than a year after Missouri Baptist Convention messengers publicly opposed these procedures and urged public officials to recognize God's gift of only two genders, male and female.

First U.S. law banning public drag shows ruled unconstitutional

A federal district judge has ruled unconstitutional a Tennessee law prohibiting gender-bending drag performances in front of minors, which had been the only such law in the nation.

In a stunning interview on Louisiana Public Broadcasting, Dr. Az Hakeen, who was identified as “the only psychiatrist in the UK to specialize in working psychotherapeutically with gender dysphoria patients, which he has done for 23 years,” declared, “Gender ideology is made up. It’s a social construct. It’s a cult belief.”

Jackson County law criminalizes gospel’s call to conversion

No religious liberty exemptions are provided in Jackson County’s new law. A state-licensed Christian counselor working at an explicitly Christian counseling center could face prosecution. Evidently, even a pastor – if he also happens to be a state-licensed counselor – could be prosecuted for counseling someone in his own congregation. In effect, this law criminalizes state-licensed Christian counseling in Jackson County. Indeed, even if only in particular circumstances, it criminalizes gospel proclamation.

Will Democracy survive in the United States?

Carl F.H. Henry’s 1996 book "Has Democracy Had Its Day?" is a provocative and helpful reflection on American democracy as he considers its future in an era when the Christian faith has been shoved to the side in favor of highly individualized moral autonomy. Since Henry’s death in 2003, the dramatic shift away from moral consensus has accelerated and moved rapidly towards a nearly despotic emphasis on highly privatized views of sexuality and gender.  Again we ask, “Has democracy had its day?”

The legislature for Jackson County – the most populous county in the Kansas City metro area – voted to ban so-called “conversion therapy” for minors, April 3. The Missouri Baptist Convention's Christian Life Commission said the county's legislation infringes religious liberty protections of licensed professionals and those seeking their help.
