LEWISTOWN – A prayer service for rain drew approximately 60 people to the Lewis County Fairgrounds in northeast Missouri on June 8. The service was ecumenical, with approximately 10 churches from northeast Missouri, representing at least four denominations. Disaster Relief crews minister after tornado
LINNEUS – Significant damage was caused by a tornado that hit in the night of May 6, and Missouri Disaster Relief (MODR) crews responded. John Mohler of Bethany, who headed the MODR incident command, said city officials of the Linn County town of less than 300 people felt 90 percent of the properties were affected. LEWISTOWN – David Parrish’s health journey took him to eternity’s door, where he learned his time had “not yet” come. Coloma Baptist Church hits milestone in ministry
COLOMA/BOGARD – Coloma Baptist Church has marked 150 years of service to the Coloma area, despite the town itself dwindling significantly. Pastor Marty Sykes said the celebration was marked on Oct. 9, 2022, and included a 25-year anniversary of a new building. “The records don’t go back that far, but it’s pretty close to 150 years,” Sykes said. Branson church finds freedom via million dollar debt payoff
BRANSON – Friendly Baptist Church here, a congregation with about 110 average Sunday attendance, had a debt problem – to the tune of $1.8 million. When Monty Dunn became pastor in 2014, the debt had been reduced to $1.35 million, but through practical and some unique circumstances, the church paid off the full debt 96 months later, in August 2022.
