Springfield couple fosters 55 children over 30 years

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – There probably haven’t been many times in the last 33 years where there hasn’t been a baby or infant in the home of Jim and Marty Schurke. So far, they have fostered 55 children, many with special medical needs. “We are a medical foster home and licensed for newborns to three-year-olds, but not all have medical needs,” Jim said. Almost a year after fire, Lewis County church meets in new building

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mo. – Just shy of a year since the former church building and parsonage were destroyed in fire, Providence Baptist Church in Lewis County in northeast Missouri has a new place to call home. Quilting ministry helps hurting women, children

WARRENSBURG – A quilt is generally made from fabric pieces that are sewn together. Sikeston church’s community service event reaches hundreds

SIKESTON – Old Bethel Baptist Church (OBBC) here stepped up, Aug. 24, to show love for the community, offering a number of free services. Pastor Brent Horton said 460 people from the area attended the event, where 130 church members reached out to welcome them. During the hours of the community service event, the church offered 40 oil changes and more than 60 haircuts, which were offered at no charge. Richland Baptist, Memphis, uses regional conference to launch local men’s ministry

MEMPHIS – Richland Baptist Church used a regional “Reclaiming Biblical Manhood” conference to start their men’s discipleship Bible study. Around 85 boys and men from more than a dozen different churches in Northeast Missouri, Iowa, and Illinois attended the activity, Sept. 7, at the Camp Leeper Facilities near Luray. MARSHFIELD – For 18 years, the Webster County Baptist Association has had an Outdoor Sportsmen’s Event for those with archery interests. Omaha Baptist partners with Montana church

OMAHA – Twenty members of the Omaha Baptist Church in northern Missouri took a mission trip to help Jordan (Montana) Community Church, Aug. 5-11. Omaha pastor Kevin Collins said the mission team was between the ages of 13 and 87. With travel, it ended up being just three work days.
