Rocky Mount pastor retires after 48 years

Jimmy Carter was president back then, and Southwest Baptist University (SBU) was still Southwest Baptist College (SWBC). It was February of 1977, and a young graduate, along with his wife Marilyn and their two daughters, drove from Bolivar to the Lake of the Ozarks in their Ford Pinto. Dan Duckworth was beginning his pastorate at Rocky Mount Baptist Church, just a few miles south of Eldon.

Volunteers needed for HLGU Alumni & Friends work day, Aug. 9

Hannibal-LaGrange University is calling on volunteers to help prepare the campus for the new school year. The university will host its annual Alumni and Friends Work Day on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Volunteers will gather in the lobby of the first floor of the Burt Administration Building at 7:30 a.m. to kick off the morning.

I have seen statistics that reveal there are as many as 48 states in the U.S. that have some form of legalized gambling. Of those states, 38 have some form of legal sports betting. It has been reported that nearly 9 in 10 Americans have gambled at some point in their lifetime, and that more than 6 in 10 have gambled in the last year, which could amount to 102 million people.
