A 100-year-old World War II veteran who recently visited President Donald Trump at the White House is scheduled to be the special guest of Gov. Mike Parson at Thursday’s National Day of Prayer event, noon, in The Rotunda of the State Capitol, the governor’s office confirmed Friday.

“These brave men and women see things no one wants to see,” said Luke Renfro, member of Hilldale Baptist Church here. “The darkness is so overwhelming that these guys can’t see daylight; their eyes can’t see value in anything because of what’s haunting them.”
