“Calling Down the Fire” is the theme of this year’s Pastors’ Conference which will be meeting on Oct. 24 just prior to the Convention in St. Charles Convention Center. The Pastors’ Conference will begin at 8:40 a.m. with pre-session music and 9:00a.m-4:30p.m. is the time of the conference. I am asking that you make this conference a matter of urgent prayer as I have asked the four men coming to proclaim God’s Word, to seek to bring us messages that will ignite our hearts for the glory of God.
We are living in some challenging times, and we greatly need to hear from God about our lives and ministries and to be more effective in touching and influencing a sickly culture. Steve Gaines, pastor at Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, Tenn., who is also our current president of the Southern Baptist Convention will be bringing our final afternoon message. (He will also be bringing our Convention Sermon on Wednesday). Herb Reavis, pastor at North Jacksonville Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla., will preach once in the morning conference and once in the afternoon conference. Larry Wynn, Vice President for Revitalization of the Georgia Baptist Convention will preach once in the morning conference and once in the afternoon conference. Roger Alford of the Missouri Baptist Evangelists Association will be bringing our opening message on Monday morning.
It is my prayer and my hope and my desire that as we leave this conference this year that we will not only leave inspired to preach, as Richard Baxter said, as dying men, to dying people, but that we will experience the fire of God falling upon us! Please join me in making this conference a matter of great prayer, and I encourage you to be there by 8:30 a.m. to see what God is about to do in our lives.
If you want to hear more details about the conference you may go to visit mobaptist.org. I am praying for the Mighty Hand of God and the Blessed Breath of God to move greatly upon our lives in these hours.
