‘Furnace’ prepares churches for revival

SPRINGFIELD – Nearly 400 Missouri Baptist leaders gathered at Ridgecrest Baptist Church here during “Furnace,” the Missouri Baptist Convention’s (MBC) 2015 state evangelism and discipleship conference, Feb. 5-6.

According to Mark Snowden, MBC evangelism/discipleship strategist, the event called Missouri Baptists to faithfully proclaim the Word of God even when faced by opposition and hardship.

“I believe this conference will have lasting impact to bring revival and spiritual awakening,” Snowden said.

A team of conference leaders at furnace included Brad Brisco, author of Missional Essentials: A Guide for Experiencing God’s Mission in Your Life; D.A. Horton, executive director of ReachLife Ministries; Jason Allen, president of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; Micah Fries, vice president of LifeWay Research; Gary Frost, vice president of the Midwest region for the North American Mission Board; and Greg Frizzell, prayer and spiritual awakening specialist for the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma. Christian singer and songwriter Charles Billingsley will lead worship and bring special music.

The event also included 15 breakout sessions and was preceded by a pre-conference hosted by the Fellowship of Missouri Baptist Evangelists.
