ST. LOUIS – Two portable baptisteries have been provided for use in Kansas City and St Louis by joint funding from the North American Mission Board and the Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC).
Rick Hedger, MBC partnership missions strategist, provided the funds to support the church planting underway.
“The need to support SEND Kansas City and SEND St. Louis church planting strategies was my motivation for providing them,” said Hedger. “Baptism is the first step of obedience in disciple-making.”
The original request came from Rodney Hammer, director of missions, Blue River-Kansas City Baptist Association (BR-KC). Hammer saw the need for a good portable baptistery for church plants and evangelism outreach baptizing in public, Hedger said. The BR-KC Association as well as the St. Louis Metro Baptist Association will house the baptisteries for use by local churches.
“The baptisteries is a great tool as we continue to focus prayers, energy and people to the urban areas of St. Louis,” said Jim Breeden, director of missions, St. Louis Metro Baptist Association.
