“Overflow” is theme of Missouri Missions Offering

June 10, 2013 By The Pathway

JEFFERSON CITY – “Overflow” is the theme of this year’s Rheubin L. South Missouri Missions Offering (MMO). It is taken from 2 Cor. 9:12, “For the ministry of this service is … overflowing in many acts of thanksgiving to God.”

The Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) this week is mailing promotional packets to church leaders throughout the state. The packets should arrive in mid-June. They include two posters, a giving guide, information about all MMO promotional resources, and an order card.

Most of the promotional resources offered this year – videos, prayer guides, bulletin inserts, and much more – are available for free downloading at www.mobaptist.org/mmo, although additional posters, giving guides, and offering envelopes will be mailed on request.

The move toward electronic resources enables the MBC to significantly reduce postage fees and invest more in MMO mission projects like summer missionaries and church planting resources.

“There are powerful, impacting Missouri mission projects that are dependent on our churches’ faithful giving to MMO,” said John Yeats, MBC executive director.

The statewide goal this year is $700,000. In 2012, Missouri Baptists exceeded the goal of $675,000, marking the first time in more than a decade that gifts surpassed the target.

“This year we have set the bar higher,” said Yeats. “We encourage you to set a faith goal for your church and use the Progress Posters to track your congregation’s giving.”

“Missouri Baptists are living testimonies of God’s overflowing goodness,” Yeats continued. “His goodness overflows when we see the people who are impacted by our financial support of the four key project ministries of our state mission offering: Sharing Christ’s Love, Sending Missionaries, Starting Churches, and Strengthening Churches.”

There are three simple ways to order MMO materials: clip, click, or call:

Clip the order form from the promotional mailer, fill out your request, and send it back. The postage is paid and all materials are free of charge.

Click on www.mobaptist.org/mmo to download materials or to place an order electronically.

Call 1.800.736.6227, ext. 303, to tell us which resources to send.

“I pray you will join us in reaching many Missourians with the gospel through your ‘overflow’ giving to MMO,” said Yeats.
